This past weekend was the first time that I could make it to Gavin's basketball game due to work schedule. It is a really cool program and he really enjoys playing. To begin with, they start with a bible verse and a prayer, then the parents and all the attendees make up two lines and the kids have their name announced over the speaker system while they run through the line hitting their parent's and attendee's hands. It is really awesome for the kids. Although Gavin says it is really embarrassing, I find that very hard to believe when he has the world's biggest smile on his face while he runs. The first week (last week) have was playing defense all of the time even when he was on offense so they really worked on this during practice. So at the game, he did so well playing defense and offense and knowing when to play defense and offense. After the amazing Illini game, all Gavin wanted to do at this game was make a last minute buzzer shot just like Tyler Griffey and guess what... HE DID. It was so cool for him. He also made three other shots.
He gets a little embarrassed when he makes a shot but he will soon get over that. I love watching him play and it is an added bonus they incorporate bible verses and good sportsmanship.
