Emergency Visit

We had an emergency visit today with Griffin. It was very scary for us both but he is doing fine now. At about 2:30 pm Griffin spiked a temperature of around 104.7 degrees. I called his doctor right away and she told me to go to the hospital. So off we went to visit the ER. Our first trip there and hopefully our last. By the time that we got there Griffin's temp. reached 105.1 degrees. The nurse asked me how I gave him medicine and I told him that I usually give it to him in his bottle. He didn't understand why that was until he tried to give him medicine himself. Griffin is very strong and refuses to take medicine for the most part. It is a wrestling match to get it down. With much patience, he got it down but did tell the doctor he is a very difficult child to give medicine to. So he received a double batch of medicine and it started to come down. He has an ear infection and some congestion in his chest. A shot was given to him so that a strong dose could start working on him right away. He has to have around the clock medicine very three hours so his temp. doesn't spike again. So off to bed we all go. I am praying that tomorrow is a much better day for all of us.

Hi Sara! I know how scary it can be when your child spikes such a high fever. Kaitlyn used to do that a lot when she was younger and it worried me every time! I hope that Griffin is feeling better. If you need any advice on fevers e-mail me...I've stock piled quite a lot of information through my years of working and as a mom:) We'll say a prayer for him and for you!

Thank you Becky. I will e-mail you later for advice. I need all the help I can get. Melissa and Val were very helpful on Saturday too though. It was very very scary. I have never even seen a temperature go above 102.0 degrees. I had heard temps. can go high but never thought either of my kids would go that high.
