4th of July Happenings

We had a busy 4th of July but it was really well worth it.  It was a little bit different but still a lot of fun.  Kerry went racing with the pit crew while we went to our friend's house to go swimming for the afternoon.  It was hot and the water felt amazing.  Then we headed to Chenoa for a cook out with a couple of our closest and dearest friends.  We had an All American 4th of July food with brats, hotdogs, and all the fixings.  The two older boys ate extremely well probably because the swimming made them super hunger.  After eating we just hung out and relaxed for a while.  It was still really hot out but Gavin was determined to play baseball with some older boys.
They used trees, the swing set, and the deck as bases which was so much fun to watch.
Gavin played while Griffin enjoyed a delicious cookie.  He is a little shy (not sure where that comes from) but he wanted to spend some time with me and watch while the boys played.  We sat and chated and it was wonderful.
Garrett didn't really have a nap all day so he and I were both very tired so we headed home.  I felt awful because Gavin and Griffin still wanted to watch the fireworks so I let them stay with our sweet friends and watch the fireworks.  E.J. was awesome enough to take the photo on her phone of her and a couple of her "favorite" boys.  I love that this family loves and treats our family just like their real family.  Such a blessing!!!!  I dressed the older two in the best red, white, and blue that I could find without having to buy anything.
At the beginning of the day, I told the boys that I wanted a picture with all of them in the red, white, and blue but by the end of the day I didn't get it.  My camera battery died and I didn't get them all sitting still enough to do it.  I was a little bummed but the picture below is just so sweet.  Garrett had red, white, and blue on too.  Right before heading home, I sat Garrett in the grass for the first time and he liked it.  Although it was crunchy and hard, he still liked it.
We are truly blessed for the family and friends we spent the day with and for our freedom and the country which we live it!!  GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.
