Someone Got Their Hairs Cut

Garrett got his hair cut like a big boy this time around.  This would be his second hair cut.  He was getting quite the head of hair before receiving a huge trimming.
I love those baby blue eyes.  All of the boys have them.  So handsome.
Murphy is usually where ever Garrett is, they have a special bond.  Garrett climbs on him and he just takes it.  Murphy follows him around until he drops a piece or two of food so he can eat it right up.

1800s

Gavin and I were reading in his reading textbook tonight.  He was reading to me about different homes... made out of different material, different climates, different shapes, made for different reasons, different locations, different time periods... you get the picture.  We came across a home around the early 1800 time frame.  Gavin asked me very innocently, "Were you alive in the 1800s, Mom?"  "No Gavin I wasn't born then."  Then Gavin asked, "Then who do we know was alive during that time."  It is funny and cute at the same time.  I love to listen to how his mind works.  I'm old in his eyes but I'm not that old yet, buddy.  :)

It happened....

The grocery store has these big bouncy balls that the boys just love.  Every time (almost weekly) we are in the store they asked if they can have one.  And every time, I say "not this week".  Yesterday I decided to go to the store during the busiest, craziest time of the day. The boys were all hungry, tired, bored, and ready to be out of there but they were all very good so this week I decided to let them have a ball of their chose.  They were so excited.  I was so excited that a ball of a value of $1.29 can bring such joy to them.  They knew I would have to pay for them so they asked the cashier to scan them first so they could go sit on the bench and play with them.  I got and paid for my groceries, grabbed Garrett to head out the door but before I got out of the door I yell at the boys, "Hold onto your balls" in front of people.  Good thing others got a laugh out of me because I got a red face.  I wanted them to hold onto them so they won't go out into the street.  Only me.....  But the boys have all had tons of fun with their balls since we got them.  the neighborhood kid too.

Playing while they can...

With the Illinois weather being like it is, the boys are outside while they can.  And the other day while it was on again off again raining, they didn't much care if they were out in it or not they just wanted to be outside.  I love that about our boys.  They invited their friends over to play baseball in the rain.  Since they can whack the ball, we have asked our neighbors if we can play in the empty lot across the street.  It really has worked out perfectly.  It is fun to hear how they make up their own game and rules.
They made bases out of certain things in the yard.
I think he was going for a home run.  Griffin ended up coming in later to take a bath with the younger two because he was cold....

Griffin is a lot like me, likes to play outside but loves a warm bath afterwards. The other two were playing with their cups for at least half hour with no complaints.  I think Garrett rather play with items that are not toys than toys.

Hands in the bowl

The boys love to eat cereal out of the container.  They do not like to get bowls out to eat out of because it might "limit" them to the amount of cereal they can have.  Which is fine by me because then it doesn't dirty another dish.  The other day, I caught them ALL sitting on the floor, watching TV, and all their hands in the container.  Too funny...
Of course, Garrett took his hand out right before the camera clicked.

Kerry's surgery

Kerry had surgery on April 1.  I know odd day to have it but it all worked out well.  He has had a hernia for the last month or so.  The doctor told him he didn't have to have it taken out for as long as he wanted but we thought it would better to do it now then wait.  Really, is there ever a good time to have surgery?  The earlier in the race season the better, we thought.  (I discovered there is never really an off season to racing (; )  So he is off for two weeks and then he is to take it easy for the next six weeks.  He won't be able to lift anything over 10 pounds so that means no lifting Garrett.  Monday he did amazing well, he felt good and was up and around.  In the night and morning hours on Tuesday, it wasn't as good but we discovered we need to stay on top of his pain medicine.  On Tuesday, he was up and around helping do a very few things.  Today hasn't been so well for him but I'm praying he only improves greatly as the days go by.  He did get out and about today.  He took a quick trip to see his work.  He thought it was a good idea to go outside and get some fresh air.  The boys have been really great.  Gavin and Griffin have been my little helpers.  Gavin took out the trash for me, helped me with Garrett, taken the dog out for potty, and cleaned all the poop up in the yard without being asked.  Griffin has helped clean up the table, fed the dog, set the table, and entertained Garrett for a short while.  Garrett has slept through the night the last several nights!!!  I'm praying Kerry makes a speedy but very full, healthy recovery.  It is difficult to see him in pain.
P.S.  There will be no pictures because he would kill me if I did.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter!  We had a really great Easter day.  It was an easy day but we sometimes like those kinds of days.  :)
In the morning, we went to church.  Then we came home and prepared for a meal with Papa 4 wheeler, Mama Kathy, and Papa Old Tractor.  Since it was really nice out, after lunch and a very short nap by the little one, we headed outside.  Outside Garrett loves to swing.
Gavin and Griffin were practicing their basketball skills.  Our neighbor's grandsons came over to play.  It is so sweet to watch and have them play.
Gavin loves to try to make a basket over Kerry's head.  Kerry loves to block the shot "out of the blue".
We really have to watch Garrett while he picks up things because most of "the things" end up in mouth.  I found him trying to eat gravel.  Nasty!!  We then had to go inside.
A great Easter was had by all.
