Our family Sunday

We started out this Sunday with no power for a several hours in the middle of the night more toward the morning hours. Our house did get pretty chilly but with covers we were alright. Gavin got cold but that is only because he won't stay in his bed, he would rather sleep at the gate with no clovers, no blankets, no pillow, nothing but his pajamas and his "key-key". Griffin and I got up early and played together before anyone came downstairs to play with us. On Sundays after church, I usually like to make the family a breakfast for brunch. Today was no different, I decided to make cinnamon rolls with orange juice. Kerry ate six rolls while Gavin and Griffin both ate the one roll. It was not my favorite but as long as all of my boys are happy I don't mind. We started laundry, played, and made white chocolate pretzels. Gavin put the sprinkles on while Griffin sat in his high chair and watched. By the time we finished up with that it was time for a nap. Good thing because just after they both fell asleep the power went out for over an hour. Although Kerry and I did get quite a bit accomplished. We organized the deep freezer, cleaned out the freezer on top of the refrigerator, folded laundry, and put some of it away. The power went off and on a couple more times so I thought we better get supper done and baths done. I thought it would be nice to seat with the kids to watch a movie. We all tried to watch "The Grinch that Stole Christmas."(the cartoon version). Our boys really don't watch television so I ended up watching the last part of the movie by myself while the boys played close by. More playing went on, cleaned up, bedtime story, and then to bed. So far so good, the power has been on non-stop for a couple of hours. I still think it is beautiful out although I am very happy staying inside today. Brr! freezing cold out. Only a couple more days until Christmas, I'm pretty excited!

Wow...it sounds like you had a great family bonding time...What an experience...when the power goes out it is fun for a bit (like maybe an hour) and then it gets scary...specially in this cold weather...because pipes could bust and things could freeze and cause a huge disaster...but every once in a while it is interesting to see how it would have been to live like our ancestors...but thank goodness for POWER!!! Great blog I enjoy reading about your experiences as a mother and wife and Mid-Illinois gal...
