Homework

On Christmas, I received two books to start working with Gavin on some Pre-K material and to be honest they were one of my favorite presents. When I start to get coloring books or other books out, both the boys call it "Homework" but it is homework they both love to do. One book has some many different activities in it to learn, it is so exciting but we are taking it one page at a time: letters, numbers, colors, shapes, community, words, and etc... We started on shapes in that book. We have been working on circles, squares, and triangles. First the book instructs Gavin to color the shape, then trace the shape, and last make the shape on your own. He is really good at making a circle but has just a little trouble with squares. Triangles seem to be the most difficult for him to make on his own but he can recognize all three now. Today we worked on finding the correct shape and then coloring it a specific color according to the directions so we worked on shapes and colors.

Griffin was just working on coloring in general. He likes to pick a specific color and then we color together in this huge coloring book. He is somewhat of a wild colorer but we are working on it then again he is a boy and only TWO.

The other book we have to work on is all about tracing. I started with tracing shapes in the other book to go with this book. The tracing book starts with the basics and work up to more difficult throughout the book (obviously). He can traced straight across, top to bottom, bottom to top, curves, circles, and etc... He can also tell you the bottom of the page and the top among other things in that nature. I guess I didn't realize how tracing can be difficult for kids at his age but I learned quickly. He is doing so well with it (in my mommy opinoin). The activity book fits perfectly for his learning style though. We first trace with our fingers and then we use crayon next. He takes his time and stays in the line.

In this picture you see him tracing a dog to his bone and there are lots of curves. I really don't know what knowledge level Gavin should be at this age but it doesn't matter to me because I get to work with him on it and I LOVE teaching him. In March, he gets screened to see if he will go to Pre-K or not. I'm not real worried about if he does or does not get in because I know we both enjoy working together at home on this fun, new stuff.

He was done with his homework and ready to play!

That is so cute!! Looks like they really enjoy doing their 'homework.' Hopefully they will keep that enthusiasm in about 10 years, lol! I love your title picture!! It is adorable!!!
