Farming Heaven

FINALLY, it is harvest time and Papa 4 wheeler is going. Gavin has been waiting for this day since last October. A couple of weeks ago Gavin told Griffin that he couldn't ride with Papa 4 wheeler because he wanted to ride in the combine ALL DAY LONG so we had a talk. You see Papa 4 wheeler drives the combine all the time and Papa Old Tractor drives the tractor or truck all the time. Gavin thought that Griffin could ride with Papa Old Tractor the entire day while he rode with Papa 4 wheeler. He thought it was a fair trade off. I told Gavin once the time came he would have to take a turn with Griffin. It didn't go well but harvest was still a little ways away and I thought we could talk about it until it happened. So we did.... I kept asking Papa 4 wheeler if there was any way possible if he could fit two adorable little boys in there and he just can't. Tuesday, Papa 4 wheeler was really going strong so I took the boys out there on my half day. Gavin was overjoyed to say the least. He couldn't wait for Papa 4 wheeler to stop. Griffin fell asleep so we were safe for the time being. The picture below is Gavin waiting patiently for Papa to stop.

Once Papa 4 wheeler stopped (the combine was turned off), Gavin took off running as fast as his little feet could take him toward the him. He was so excited!!!!

Here they go..... Papa made a little sit for them.

Griffin woke up about half hour after Gavin had been riding so I walked him out to the field. Gavin willing got out of the combine to give his brother a turn. He is so sweet, I guess our talk did help. He didn't even get upset about it. Of course he was praised highly for his sharing abilities. This would be Griffin's very first year going on the combine. Papa 4 wheeler thought he was too little last year so I was really excited for his first time. So excited, just as excited for Gavin's first ride!!!! Little things excite me... Here is a picture of Griffin's very first combine ride... I'm sure there is many more rides to come.

Griffin rode for some time and then Gavin wanted back in. Papa had to make a stop so they both had to get out for a while. They each got two or three rides in a four hour time span. I think they would have each rode for longer if I didn't drag them in for supper. I think/know we were all born to be on the Farm, now getting there is the problem. Here they are waiting for their ride to come back.
At first Gavin has been a little upset with Papa because he STARTED without him. Gavin kept asking, "Papa, why did you start without me?" Griffin of course would repeat. They are farmers in the making. They love to be out there in the dirt, in all of the equipment, each want to know all the details of what is going on and why, and just plan HELP out!!! They didn't care they played in the field, they thought it was fun. They are going to be our future farmers, LOOK OUT PAPA!! Farmings in their blood. They both have been asking for when they can go the next time. We will have to see with the raining moving in.

Too cute....yes, our kids would love playing together! We went out in the combine with Grampa Steidinger today but I can't take pictures as he is German AC and doesn't believe in such things ;( I'll have to get picts when we're out with Uncle Josh!
