Griffin's birthday

On Griffin's birthday, we decided to take time off of work to spend with the boys. I have been wanting to take the kids to the Children's Museum in Bloomington for a while. I had heard great things about it and that there so much for the kids to do that you could take a day or part of day and enjoy all of it. I'm all for educational things to do (what mom isn't) and fun so it fit perfectly. I'm always trying to give my kids a head start. We started off on the first floor which is set up like a town. As you can see in the picture below that is Gavin's face and hand. This was in the doctor area, I have no clue what you call this but the boys really loved it. Griffin won't put his face in but he did do his hand several times.

There was a water play area. Griffin was more into throwing things across the water table then playing but he did get stuff with the net. Yes it is pink but he didn't care. I was rather impressed there were things you could pump, wheel around, fish out, dump, and so much more. Whatever you could think of to do with water, they thought of it and did it.

Gavin wasn't as impressed with the water but still just the same had a good time. The problem was the lady when you first walked in told us all about the stuff that had there and all Gavin heard was farm equipment on the second floor so he didn't care about anything until we got there. Little stinker.....

I have my pictures a little out of order but on the top floor there was a really cool paint area. They both love to paint on this clear thing, spray it, wipe it off, and redo it again. Griffin loves to just mix the colors and splish it up there on the wall but I think he liked spraying the water bottle better. Oh man was he a mess afterwards. Good thing it just wiped off...

Notice the color of Gavin's paint, he told me it is a tractor. Can you see it?
Okay so we finally got to the second floor or the Ag floor. There were cows you could milk which both the boys did rather well.

There were fields to be combined with an actual screen that looked like you were going through a field. Awesome!!! I thought I might never get them out of the combine. Luckily there weren't many people there at all so we could stay a little longer in the equipment than normal.

And tractors to be driven....

We also worked on the grain bin and shot balls through some suction tubes which was really cool. Another favorite was these tubes that had strong suction, you would shove a ball, scarf, or fussy ball through the hole and then it would make a fast route and shot it out somewhere else. You could put two in at once and they raced each other. The boys including Kerry spent a lot of time here. So cool to play with... If we had this and John Deere stuff at our home, you would never see the boys. They were so amazed by it.
We all enjoyed Griffin's birthday together. Although at the end of the day you could really tell that we had a 2 year old. He screamed the entire way out of the museum because he didn't want to leave or his coat on. Again good thing we were the only ones there because it was rather embarrassing. He ended up screaming all the way from Bloomington to Chenoa because he wanted his mommy to hold him. Bitter sweet although when I tried to hold him he didn't want to be held. He was just so upset. We had planned to stop for pizza but with his crying there was just no way. He didn't have a nap either so that didn't help add to his mood. In the end, we had our usually frozen pizza (every Friday is frozen pizza night at our home) with homemade cake and frosting with M&Ms. Overall, Griffin had a great birthday. I'm a little sad he is getting older but what can you do. They grow up whether you like it or not. He is just as adorable as ever, just like his older brother.

The Children's Museum is so perfect for kids your boys' age...it is so neat to see them enjoy themselves...but yikers sounds like you are already in the terrible twos!!
