Our New Family Room for Free

Some time ago, I can't remember when, we were given BRAND NEW carpet for FREE. Yes you see that right. We didn't have to pay a dime or a penny or anything for it. NOTHING!! Some people had had it in their garage just sitting there for five years and didn't think they would ever get the chance to lay it down in the room they bought it for so they were going to throw it out but they were generous enough to give it to us. And it is a huge piece, we aren't talking a little square, it goes across the entire basement floor but we will get to that in a minute. Also a big thank you to the delivery people too.... So our basement did look like these two following pictures. Yes we have a lot of toys for the boys and NO we didn't even buy hardly any of them. We have very very generous grandparents, great grandparents, and other family members. Some toys are even from when Kerry was a little boy, yes at one point he was younger.


Play area...

Our television area... Ignore the sheets on the furniture. I was alway one of those people that said I would never put sheets on my furniture just because it gave me a weird feeling and it looked tacky but I have done it because we love this sectional but we were never down in the basement to sit on it so I covered it to keep it nice.
TA DA!!!!! Here is the new Family Room aka basement. Kerry and I laid the carpet ourselves. Don't be jealous of our great job but the wrinkles are already working themselves out.

Play area... The basement already feels warmer or cooler down here depending on the weather outside. Kerry cut around the pole and the little electric fire place thing. He did almostly awesome at it. I had to help with the muscles....

Sheets are gone because we are down here more than any other room in the house. We love it and it didn't cost us a thing but our time. My kind of plan. I love that the kids can play down here while I sit in my favorite spot in the corner piece. We can play board games, farm, and even jump on the trampoline (well I can't I'm a little bit over the weight limit). All the toys are located in one area not all throughout the house and everything has a place. The boys have plenty of room down here. We love love love our new space.
