Surgery on Friday
Gavin will have surgery tomorrow down in Champaign at 7:00 am, which means we will have to be there by 6:00 am and leave our home by 5:00 am. Early morning for everyone. The surgery will last from a half hour to maybe an hour. Dr. Lipps says the tubes are no big deal but the removing of the tonsils is a little bit bigger. Still not too bad... They are going to give him a little happy pill before hand to relax him a bit and then off to surgery he will go. I have explained that they will put a mask over his face to put him a sleep and he is alright with that plus he can take his forever pal-his key key (blanket) in with him. We will have to wash it before hand but he is excited about that too. I didn't explain too much else just the very basics so he doesn't get scared. After surgery he will only be able to eat soft soft foods. So we will be having a lot of pudding, mac and cheese, jello, soups, noddles, juice, well you get the picture... He won't be able to eat pizza for two weeks or anything else that is acidy (is that a word? I guess it is now). I think the hardest part for him is going to be that he won't be able to play T-Ball for TWO weeks after surgery. Oh man! We assured him that we would still take him to the games and practices but he would have to watch rather than play. Say a prayer for Gavin on Friday!! I will update as soon as I can and definitely after a nap for all of us.
